Becoming a DM

So you have been with us for some time now and wish to see where this can lead. My dream for this server is for everyone to be a GM/DM, imagine a place we all build together and anyone can run a game for anyone on the server, where we all are players and creators. If you share a dream of a place that you can call a home and dedicated comrades in arms, a place where games are being constantly run

Dungeon Master Responsibilities and Privileges

For Dungeon Masters: You will have your own section in the schedule to keep updated. Unless impaired or other problems you need to run at least a bi-weekly session/ or at least a group as a DM.

  • You do not have a vote in the council

  • You may participate in the council via the Dungeon Master Den chat.

  • If you have completed your Shadow Sessions you are the same as a Council Member but for the above two differences

You may stay a Dungeon Master instead of trying for the Council if you wish to.

For Council Members: You will have your own section of the schedule to keep updated. Unless impaired or other problems you have to run a weekly Random Submission DNDC OR a First Come First Serve DNDC/ or at least 2 groups.

  • You can and are encouraged to Shadow DM's

Responsibilities of a DM in Teresyum

Priorities :

  • Fun and a good story.

  • Manage any conflicts and have them AFTER session not during.

  • Remind people they are here to have fun together.

  • Mute or stop people from talking and escalating conflicts if they are not listening to you.

  • If you can't handle a situation ask for help from any of the legacy members or above.

When you have questions:

Contact Chuky for debriefs on anything you are planning to run. Debriefs are not things you have to include, they are just things that have been used/established before and you may continue on the storyline in your own way if you wish. The debriefs are here to inspire and help you when working together with other DM's/GM's

If Chuky is not around contact any Legacy Saga Member

  • You must behave as a staff member. If have 3 active minor warnings (or one active major) you will be demoted. This applies to Trainees and above.

  • You cannot be a control DM, you can make soul-binds with the help of Dungeon Master +.

Requirement 1 - Play a bit and know what you’re working towards

Our world is awesome and varied, and because of that everyone new needs a bit of time to get accustomed to how things work within our world. Play and have fun and once a couple of weeks of you playing have passed, message Chuky about becoming a DM.

The tags you may ask/strive for in the beginning are:

  • Textmaster: This will allow you to do ic-chat-requests.

  • Crafter: This will allow you to run crafting for players after you have been down and confirmed to understand the system.

  • Trainee: This will allow you to run dndcs.

Requirement 2 - Reading

Reading the following documents and being comfortable with implement all of them together:

  • The Players Handbook

  • The Dungeon Master's Guide

  • Our Lorebook 'The Magna Carta Teresyum' and the Extra Player Resources Tab on the website.

Requirement 3 - The Shadow Games

Once your mind is set on this you will receive the Trainee DM tag and welcomed into some of the secret rooms of the server. At this point you will be running simple and easy games to prove to us we can trust you as a DM. One Council Member or established DM will be joining your game as a player and their only role is to play and help you only within the confines of direct messages. After a couple of these sessions have been done and both trainee and Shadow are satisfied you may be eligible for promotion. To understand promotions, review the guidelines at the bottom of the page.

However you have the responsibility of checking all powerful NPC's and magical or special items by this your shadow and all lore (if needed) with Chuky.

DM Handbook

If you run a text-dndc, the max time limit you can lock your players is 2 weeks after the starting date.

The Way to set up and announce DNDC's:

You have to announce your session in the #announcements channel including these details: **Adventure Name**, **Level Range**, **Slots**, **Description**, **Time Till Start**

DNDC Types

  1. Random Submission: Once sign ups end, you roll for the amount of players. The numbers you land on is who gets in.

  2. Role Submission: You decide what roles best suit your game, then declare them in the announcement.

  3. Story Time: After reserving slots for particular characters, you post with the leftover available slots and random roll for the rest of them.

More information can be found on the game modes page.

DNDC Numbers

You, by default, have one number at minimum, these are used to determine your chance of being selected for the game. If you do not get into a game, you get a bonus number. Additionally, you gain an additional bonus number every week you have not played. The max amount of bonus numbers you can have is two. When you get into a DNDC game you lose any bonus numbers you have even if you forget to use them. The bonus numbers are player based, not character based. Weekly campaigns stop you from gaining an additional bonus number for every week you have not played. If you go a week without playing, ping a banker to add your number. If you do not ping a banker, your number will not be added.

Example Process:

Hey there everyone @everyone. DNDC **NAME** is starting in **1 hour**. **Level Range if any**. The Adventure is about **Small description or IC description of the adventure**. Please sign up in the **DNDC channel** with the pinned format. The submission method will be **Player Submissions**/**Random Submission**. Please remember minimum session time is 4 hours.

After the hour has passed please type:

**EVERYONE PLEASE STOP TYPING**, I will be rolling/announcing the players who will be in the session. People who have not played: Get 2 numbers in Random Submissions
